Alberta’s Finance department has issued a summary of the responses it received to proposed amendments to its pension plan regulations.

A discussion paper was released in December 2005, and Finance says that it received 1,420 responses on the proposed amendments contained in that paper.

Of these, 48 were from industry representatives who responded to many parts of the paper. Of those responses, 20 were from plan sponsors, 13 were from consultants and actuaries, 10 from financial institutions, three from industry associations, one from a legal firm, and one from CRA. Also, 1,372 individuals responded solely to one section of the paper.

The document issued today summarizes the responses regarding the proposals put forward as well as other comments received. It notes that in some cases respondents simply agreed or disagreed with no related comment.
