Fidelity Investments Canada Ltd. announced Thursday that Robert Strickland, a 17-year veteran of the brokerage business has been appointed executive vice president, financial advisor and alliance distribution.
Strickland will report to Fidelity Canada president David Denison and will be a member of the organization’s eight member senior executive team.
Before joining Fidelity, Strickland spent nearly nine years at TD Bank Financial Group in a number of domestic and international leadership roles. He served most recently as senior vice president, private client group, wealth management, overseeing private banking, private investment counselling, estates and trusts and high end insurance. He served concurrently as President, TD Waterhouse Financial Planning.
Previous to that, Strickland was with the organization in Japan as executive vice president TD Waterhouse and COO Tokyo Mitsubishi TD Waterhouse Securities. Before leading the Japanese operation, Strickland was president, TD Evergreen, the bank’s full service brokerage.
“Rob has extensive knowledge of the full range of distribution channels and we are delighted that he is bringing that to Fidelity Canada,” Denison said in a news release. “His experience is going to be a real advantage for us as we work on further strengthening our relationships with our distribution partners through this difficult market cycle and into the future.”
