Russell Investments Canada today announced the appointment of Sadiq Adatia as its new chief investment officer.

Adatia, who currently heads Russell’s Canadian equity funds and LifePoints Portfolios, will have overall responsibility for Russell Investments Canada’s investment team. He will continue to work closely with Tim Hicks, who has been promoted to Russell’s global headquarters to lead Russell’s North American Equities team, bringing with him over 20 years of Canadian equity market experience.

“We are excited to have someone of Sadiq’s caliber, insight, and track-record guiding our investments as we continue to enhance our investment services and commitment to clients,” says Irshaad Ahmad, president and managing director of Russell Investments Canada.

“Sadiq’s regular collaborations with Tim Hicks and Russell’s asset class directors across the globe will help us provide investors with an even wider breadth of capital market research and portfolio management expertise.”

Since joining Russell in 2006, Adatia has worked closely with investment advisors and institutional clients with respect to asset mix decisions, risk management, and capital market research. Prior to joining Russell, Adatia led the investment consulting business of a large multi-national consulting firm in Toronto.

Adatia sits on various committees, including the Society of Actuaries Education and Examination Committee. He is also a member of the CFA Institute and the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts.
