Nine hundred and thirty three individuals wrote the Financial Planners Standards Council (FPSC) Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Examination on June 10, and 43.94%, or 410, passed, the FPSC announced today.

Of those writing the exam for the first time, 50.78% passed.

The list of the 410 successful CFP candidates will be published in The Globe and Mail on Thursday, September 7.

“Congratulations to all the successful candidates. The CFP Examination is a critical component of the CFP certification process — testing candidates’ professional competence and knowledge,” said Cary List, executive VP standards, COO & acting president of FPSC.

The six-hour exam is administered in both official languages twice a year. The June examination was held in 57 centres across Canada. Topics covered reflect the knowledge, skills and professional competence required in the current practice of financial planning as established by CFP professionals and academics from across the country.

Only candidates who have completed the educational requirements set by FPSC are eligible to write the CFP exam.

The next scheduled exam is on Saturday, November 18. Registration closes on October 18, 2006. Examination information and applications are available at www.cfp-ca.org.
