The Quebec government has eliminated regulations that prevented tax receipts from being issued for charities that promote Canadian federalism.
The provincial Finance Department is lifting two restrictions imposed by the former Parti Quebecois government.
The government is no longer demanding that the federal government provide tax benefits for sovereigntist groups, as was demanded by the former PQ government.
In a news release, the Finance Department said it wanted to “standardize the donation criteria for education and political groups.”
