The Alberta Securities Commission has published proposed amendments to its rules relating to its new regime for civil liability for secondary market disclosure.
The notice published on Wednesday is intended to introduce the proposed amendment, which defines key terms and prescribes certain transactions under the new civil liability regime. It also includes amendments relating to takeover bids and issuer bids. The amendment is published for comment for 30 days.
On May 24, legislation establishing a secondary market civil liability regime received royal assent. It is expected to be proclaimed on Dec. 31. The amendment is also expected to take effect at the end of the year.
