CIBC Asset Management Inc. today announced the appointment of Wintergreen Advisers LLC as portfolio sub-advisor of Talvest Global Markets Fund. The new manager, led by David Winters, takes over October 1, 2006, replacing CIBC Global Asset Management Inc.

With Mr. Winters as lead portfolio manager of Talvest Global Markets Fund, investors are set to benefit from his 20 years of experience as a successful global value investment manager, the firm says.

“As investors and advisors have increased their focus on global investing, CIBC Asset Management is proud to offer our investors access to the depth of experience and outstanding track record that David Winters brings to Talvest Global Markets Fund,” said Steve Geist, President of CIBC Asset Management.

He added that the Talvest Global Markets Fund will be suitable for investors and advisors seeking to diversify their holdings with a deep value, conservative investment style that focuses on providing absolute returns and protection in down markets.

Winters has been a global value investor for two decades and has a track record of success in global fund management. Prior to forming Wintergreen Advisers in May 2005, Winters held various positions with Franklin Mutual Advisers, LLC, including, president, CEO and CIO.

While serving five years as a lead portfolio manager of the Mutual Discovery Fund, one of the Mutual Series funds, he consistently outperformed the MSCI World Index and S&P 500 Index with low volatility. His unique style of value investing involves following companies in a wide variety of industries as well as focusing on financial distress, reorganizations, liquidations and private transactions. The Templeton Mutual Beacon Fund, while under the portfolio leadership of Mr. Winters, was named U.S. Equity Fund of the Year by the Canadian Investment Awards in 2001 and 2002.
