The Montreal Exchange marked a new record in December, and its sixth in 2003, with a record volume of trading on its SXF contract, the Standard & Poor’s Canada 60 Index Futures.

The SXF achieved a volume of 55,573 contracts on December 10, 2003, surpassing the previous mark of 50,969 contracts traded on September 10, 2003.

The other five records are:

  • Record level of trading in a single day, 165,057 contracts, February 25;
  • New record level of trading in a single day, 217,757 contracts, May 27;
  • Monthly volume record, 80,270 contracts traded daily on average, June;
  • New monthly volume record, 83,966 contracts traded daily on average, September; and
  • Record volume on the SXF, 50,969 contracts; September 10.
