National Bank has appointed Alain Brunet as senior vice-president of insurance, and president of National Bank Insurance, the bank announced today.
National Bank says the move is part of a plan to consolidate its position in the insurance market.
As part of his mandate, Brunet is responsible for the continued development of the bank’s insurance businesses: National Bank Life Insurance, National Bank General Insurance and National Bank Insurance Firm.
Brunet, 47, has worked in the insurance industry for the past 25 years. He spent most of his career at Standard Life, where he was senior vice-president of retail markets.
He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. He received a diploma in actuarial sciences from Université Laval in 1981 and completed Harvard University’s program for management development in 1995.
