Jovian Capital Corp. and its associated company BetaPro Management Inc. today announced that Howard Atkinson will be joining BetaPro as executive vice president.

Atkinson has 19 years of investment management experience, including positions with a national investment dealer and major mutual fund companies. Most recently he was the head of business development of exchange-traded products for Barclays Global Investors Canada Ltd.

We believe that his credibility and his wealth of knowledge of the exchange-traded funds industry will be integral to the future growth our company,” said Adam Felesky, president of BetaPro, in a news release. “Howard is one of the country’s most recognized leaders in his field. Being able to attract an individual of Howard’s quality is a testament to the uniqueness and potential of our present and future product offerings,” he added.

Atkinson holds a B.Sc. Business Administration (Economics), as well as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designations. He currently sits as vice president on the Toronto CFA Society board of directors.

Atkinson has been a contributing writer and frequent analyst reference in many major Canadian newspapers, and is the author of two books.
