CDS Clearing and Depository Services Inc. reports that it saw record trading volume last week.
For the first time in its history, CDSX processed four consecutive days of more than 1 million exchange trades from Sept. 16-19, it reports. The total volume processed during that period was 5,255,690 trades, or an average of 1,313,922 trades per day. A one-day volume record was also set on Sept. 18 of of 1,587,314 trades.
The firm says that despite these unprecedented and sustained volumes, the CDSX system processed within normal time frames. However, there were delays in the distribution of daily trade messages for participants, it admits. CDS says its IT department is taking corrective measures to eliminate delays.
