Hartford Investments Canada Corp., the manager of Hartford Mutual Funds, has expanded its funds subadvised by Black Creek Investment Management Inc. with the launch of Hartford International Equity Fund.
Award-winning portfolio manager Richard Jenkins is lead manager of the fund. Jenkins has also been named lead manager of global equities on Hartford Global Balanced Fund. Black Creek founder Bill Kanko will continue to be lead manager of Hartford Global Leaders Fund and will support Jenkins on Hartford International Equity Fund and Hartford Global Balanced Fund.
“Having Richard and Bill working together really strengthens our global solutions for investors,” says Laurie Davis, president of Hartford Investments. “The timing couldn’t be better for Canadians looking to diversify their portfolios with experienced, proven investment managers.”
Hartford International Equity Fund’s investment objective is to seek long-term capital growth by investing primarily in equity securities of companies located outside of Canada and the U.S. The fund may invest in small, medium and large companies located in developed and emerging markets. Under this broad mandate, Jenkins will seek the best companies regardless of sector or market capitalization.
Jenkins joined Black Creek on July 1. Born in Edmonton, he began his career as an investment analyst in 1986. From 1994 to 2008, Jenkins worked at AIM Trimark (now Invesco Trimark), at which he was lead manager for a number of mutual funds including: Trimark Select Growth Fund; Trimark
Europlus Fund, which under his tenure won Best European Equity Fund at the 2004 Canadian Investment Awards; and Trimark Global Balanced Fund, winner of the Global Balanced Fund of the Year for three straight years (2004-2006).
