Montreal-based CGI Group Inc. announced on Wednesday that it has joined the Banking Industry Architecture Network, a Germany-based association seeking to standardize banking-specific information technology services.

With 22 members in the global financial services industry, BIAN works to enhance interoperability between banks by accelerating the adoption of service oriented architecture in the banking industry.

“CGI is pleased to be a member of BIAN,” said Jame Cofran, senior vice president of global banking and financial markets at CGI, in a statement. “By contributing our expertise in building enterprise-wide SOA banking applications, CGI will join with other BIAN members in defining a standard framework for the next generation of SOA solutions. As a result, the industry can move towards a more flexible and responsive business platform.”
