Sceptre Investment Counsel Ltd. today announced the appointment of Glenn Inamoto as CEO and chief investment officer at the Toronto-based investment management firm.

Inamoto succeeds Richard Knowles, president and CEO, “who is leaving the company.”

“I would like to thank Rick for his years of service at Sceptre and wish him all the best for the future,” said Ross Walker, chairman of the board, in a release.

Inamoto has been with Sceptre since 1999 and in his role as senior Canadian equity portfolio manager he has been instrumental in achieving outstanding investment returns, Sceptre says.

In his expanded role, Inamoto will continue his investment management functions and lead Sceptre’s team of investment professionals.

“Canadian equities will continue to be my focus on a day-to-day basis” says Inamoto.

“Along with the other managing directors I will also be charged with setting the strategic direction for the firm,” he adds.

Sceptre announced to other executive appointments.

David Pennycook becomes president and head of institutional marketing and servicing. Pennycook has successfully led the institutional business at Sceptre since he joined the company in 1991 and he will continue in that role.

David Morris becomes chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Morris has been Sceptre’s CFO since 2006 and has over 18 years of financial and operating experience in the investment management industry. His role will include responsibility for all financial, compliance and operations functions, and for Sceptre;s retail investment management business.

Sceptre has with assets under supervision of approximately $8.1 billion.
