The Canadia Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) reports that 2,136 CA students have passed the CA Profession’s 2006 Uniform Evaluation.
“On behalf of the CA profession, I would like to congratulate all the successful UFE candidates,” said CICA President & CEO Kevin Dancey, in a news release. “The demand for CAs has never been greater and our new candidates are entering the profession at a very exciting time.”
Jennifer Hayton of KPMG LLP in Waterloo, Ont. has been awarded the prestigious Governor General’s Gold Medal and the Chartered Accountants of Canada cash prize of $5,000 for the highest standing in Canada on the CA profession’s 2006 Uniform Evaluation (UFE).
The Chartered Accountants of Canada regional Gold Medal awards for the highest standing in the UFE (and cash prize of $2,500 each) go to:
- Sarah Crocker, of Harris Ryan Chartered Accountants, St. John’s, Nfld. for the Atlantic Provinces;
- David Charles Nayer, of Fuller Landau LLP/SENCRL, Montreal, and Simon Poirier, MALLETTE, S.E.N.C.R.L., Chicoutimi, for Quebec; and

The UFE, considered one of the world’s most rigorous professional examinations, is a national three-day evaluation that assesses CA candidate competencies including knowledge, professional judgment and ethics. The UFE is an important component of the CA qualification program, which includes a university degree requirement, a professional program of rigorous course work, practical work experience and other examination requirements. Only those who complete this entire program successfully are entitled to use the internationally recognized designation of Chartered Accountant.
