Haywood Securities Inc. has appointed Blake Corbet to the role of managing director, investment banking.

Corbet has 14 years experience in European and North American equity markets and will work with the company’s research, sales and trading departments to build the firm’s presence in the technology, telecom and industrial areas.

“Blake adds further depth to Haywood’s advisory and deal-making capabilities in the important technology and industrial sectors,” said Rob Blanchard, president of Haywood Securities, in a release. “His extensive work at leading investment dealers on both sides of the Atlantic, strong sector knowledge and proven ability to get deals done promises our clients will receive excellent guidance and outstanding results.”

Corbet has provided advisory, debt and equity services to many small and large cap companies.

His most recent position, prior to his Haywood appointment, was with CIBC World Markets, where he was an executive director in the technology, media and telecom group in Toronto.

Prior to CIBC World Markets, Corbet worked in the London Investment Banking offices of Salomon Brothers for four years as a vice president in the financial institutions group.

Based in Haywood’s Toronto office, Corbet will be working closely with the company’s research, sales and trading departments to build Haywood’s already growing presence in the technology, telecom and industrial sectors.
