Suspicious packages were removed from the Bank of Canada’s head office in Ottawa, the central bank reported Thursday.
Earlier during the day, the Bank of Canada said that a suspicious package was discovered outside the centre building of its head office in Ottawa, and police recommended evacuation of that building while they investigated the package. Bank employees continued to have access to their offices in the East and West towers.
Later, the central bank reported that the police had removed the suspicious packages.
“At this point, no threat to the Bank or its staff has been identified. Police and the Bank’s Emergency Response Team have authorized re-entry into the Bank’s centre building and continued unrestricted movement within the East and West towers,” the bank said in a message on its Web site.
