Mackenzie Financial Corp. has launched Symmetry One Portfolios a one-stop investment solution that can be purchased with a single trade.
As an expansion of Symmetry Portfolio Service, which was launched in 2004, Symmetry One is a simplified solution for financial advisors and their clients, Mackenzie said Monday.
“For many investors, Symmetry One is all they need,” says David Feather, president of Mackenzie Financial Services Inc., in a release. “Symmetry One encompasses all the elements of portfolio management – portfolio design, construction, rebalancing, monitoring and reporting, all wrapped into a single, easy to manage account.”
Symmetry One offers five portfolios for registered accounts, and five portfolios for non-registered accounts, for a total of 10 portfolios. A variety of asset mixes are available to meet different investor objectives, whether conservative, aggressive, or somewhere in the middle.
What differentiates the portfolios is the split between fixed income and equity investments:
> Conservative Portfolio, 35% equity / 65% fixed income;
> Balanced Portfolio, 50% equity / 50% fixed income;
> Moderate Growth Portfolio, 65% equity / 35% fixed income;
> Growth Portfolio, 80% equity / 20% fixed income; and
> Symmetry Equity Class, 100% equity.
As with Symmetry Portfolio Service, the Symmetry One Portfolios that are designed for non-registered accounts offer Series T funds, designed for investors looking for tax-efficient monthly cash flow. Distributions are in the form of return of capital (ROC), which is not immediately taxable, allowing investors to defer taxes. To tailor their income to their personal circumstances, investors can choose between a 6% annualized distribution (Series T6) and an 8% annualized distribution (Series T8), and can create any level of cash flow up to 8% by combining an investment in Series T shares with an investment in another series.
Effective Nov. 24, Symmetry Managed Return Class will be been renamed Symmetry Fixed income Class to align the naming convention between registered and non-registered Symmetry accounts. Symmetry Fixed Income Class is intended for non-registered accounts, while Symmetry Registered Fixed Income Pool is intended for registered accounts.
Also effective Nov. 24, non-registered accounts will no longer be able to buy Symmetry Registered fixed income Pool.
