Finance minister Jim Flaherty today announced the appointment of Shelley Tratch to the board of directors of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corp.
Tratch takes her position as a private sector director effective immediately. She retired from the practice of law in 2004 after 23 years to devote more time to her board and advisory activities.
Currently, Tratch is a director of the British Columbia Provincial Health Services Authority, a director and vice-chair of British Columbia Film, a Director of the Health Employers Association of British Columbia, a director of the Canadian Association of Provincial Cancer Agencies, and a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.
A resident of Vancouver, Tratch graduated from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law in 1980. She practised primarily in the areas of corporate and commercial transactions including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, corporate reorganizations, limited partnerships and strategic business alliances. She continues to serve on numerous not-for-profit boards and pursues other advisory activities.
