The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has unveiled the latest iteration of a committee that provides it with input on the issues faced by registrants.
The OSC Friday announced the latest members of its Registrant Advisory Committee (RAC). The committee, which is chaired by Debra Foubert, director of the OSC’s compliance and registrant regulation branch, represents a mechanism for registrants to highlight the sorts of issues they face in interpreting and adhering to securities law, including registration and compliance related issues. It also provides feedback to the commission on the development and implementation of regulatory policy.
The RAC includes representatives from various registration categories, the self-regulatory organizations, trade groups and lawyers, who are to serve two-year terms.
The current membership is comprised of: Robert Maxwell, Arrow Capital Management Inc.; Prema K.R. Thiele, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP; Leonard Racioppo, Coerente Capital Management Inc.; Matthew Irwin, Ewing Morris & Co. Investment Partners Ltd.; Richard Goldstein, First Republic Capital Corp.; Eric Adelson, Invesco Canada Ltd.; Brent Moore, Mackenzie Financial Corp.; Catherine Chamberlain, Vanguard Investments Canada Inc.; Cora Pettipas, National Exempt Market Association (NEMA); Matthew Brady, Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (MFDA); Sandra Blake, Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC); and, Cathy Tuckwell, Portfolio Management Association of Canada (PMAC) and 1832 Asset Management L.P
The committee is expected to meet four to six times per year, in addition to possible ad hoc meetings.
