Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC) and The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company announced Monday that Tsun-yan Hsieh has been appointed to their boards of directors, effective October 1.
Hsieh, a resident of Singapore, has extensive experience in international business, leadership development and corporate transformation.
“Tsun-yan Hsieh has a deep understanding of how organizational dynamics and leadership development contribute to companies’ success in realizing their strategic goals. This experience, coupled with his knowledge of Asian and international business will be a great asset to Manulife,” says Gail Cook-Bennett, Manulife chair.
During his 30-year career with McKinsey & Co, he founded the McKinsey Center for Asian Leadership and worked with clients in more than 30 countries and industries. Hsieh is a director of Sony Corporation and Bharti Airtel Ltd. He is a member of the Management Advisory Board at the School of Business and an adjunct professor of leadership at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, both at the National University in Singapore. Hsieh is also the Chairman of LinHart Group Pte Ltd., a firm he founded to provide leadership counseling. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta and holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard.
