Brandes Investment Partners & Co. today announced the launch of the Brandes Corporate Focus Bond Fund. The fund, advised by Brandes Investment Partners L.P., will invest primarily in U.S. dollar denominated fixed income securities and is available in both hedged and un-hedged purchase classes.
“We are pleased to bring Brandes fixed income capabilities to the Canadian market,” said Brandes CEO, Oliver Murray. “Brandes L.P. has been managing fixed income portfolios for over six years and has produced excellent results for clients.”
“Investors can expect the same bottom-up, committee-driven, value approach to fixed income investing that Brandes uses for equities,” Murray added. “Similarly, we believe that the fixed-income market frequently mis-prices securities and we have a process designed to take advantage of that,” added Murray.
“U.S. corporate bonds have low correlation to many other asset classes and in particular to a typical Canadian government fixed income portfolio,” said Alasdair Hayes, EVP Sales, Brandes. “With the ability to invest up to 75% in securities rated below investment grade, this fund provides excellent diversification to almost any portfolio. Brandes is in the unique position of having an experienced, disciplined fixed income team who can leverage the equity research of the entire firm,” added Hayes.
