Macquarie Private Wealth has recruited several experienced advisors and executives to its office in Burlington, Ont., the firm announced on Monday.
Macquarie hired Greg Phillips as vice president and investment advisor, and Michelle Moseley as investment services associate, to the office located west of Toronto, which opened in June.
Both recruits come from HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc. Phillips had been with HSBC for seven years, and most recently held the title of vice president, branch manager and investment advisor. He brings 17 years of experience and assets under management worth approximately $90 million.
Phillips holds the Level II life insurance license and certified financial planner designation, and focuses on providing fee-based investment and wealth protection services to high net worth clients.
Moseley has more than 15 years of industry experience. Prior to HSBC, she worked as a financial advisor at one of Canada’s big banks. She holds the financial management advisor designation and assists with portfolio construction and investments, documentation and administration.
Macquarie also recruited a team of advisors from Wellington West Capital Inc. Diana Orlic, Elizabeth Harding and Ty Cooke together bring a book of business worth close to $100 million cultivated in just three short years, Macquarie said.
The team, previously based in Wellington West’s Oakville office, has combined industry experience of more than 40 years. All three have their Level II life insurance license and CFP designation, and Harding also holds her chartered life underwriter designation.
They also bring with them their investment services associate, Pearson Avelino.
The advisor moves come after National Bank of Canada agreed in September to acquire the full service investment advisory business of HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc.
In a related deal, National Bank completed its acquisition of Wellington West Holdings Inc. in July.
