Bullfrog Power, Ontario’s first 100% green electricity retailer, today announced that three additional RBC Royal Bank branches are now “bullfrogpowered”.
Bullfrog Power is the first and only 100% green electricity retailer in Ontario. Bullfrog Power sources power exclusively from wind and low-impact hydro generators that meet or exceed the federal government’s Environmental Choice Program EcoLogo standard for renewable electricity.
This green power purchase is in addition to the nine RBC Royal Bank locations already using Bullfrog Power in the Greater Toronto Area. The new expanded contract further secures RBC’s position among the top tiers of commercial green power purchasers nationwide.
By choosing Bullfrog Power for several key Ontario locations, RBC advances its ongoing commitment to reduce its environmental impact by supporting renewable energy sources. RBC was among the first financial institutions in Canada to purchase green power and is active in financing companies in the alternative energy sector in Canada and internationally.
The three newly bullfrogpowered RBC Royal Bank branches are: Innes & Lanthier Branch, Orleans (Ottawa region); Oak Ridges Branch, Richmond Hill; and Gordon & Kortright Branch, Guelph.
With the expanded agreement, the total amount of green, carbon-free power produced by Bullfrog’s generation partners on behalf of RBC will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 1,000 tonnes annually.
“The decision to extend our commitment to Bullfrog Power reflects our ongoing efforts to reduce emissions across our operations,” said Chitwant Kohli, Vice President, Corporate Real Estate, RBC. “We’re pleased to support the generation of clean power.”
