Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec has named Michel Malo as executive vice president, investment analysis and optimization. Malo will take up his position in mid-June.

He will responsible for developing the Caisse’s perspective on the state of the financial markets, in addition to developing the infrastructure, processes and simulation tools required to support the investment functions of the Caisse. The investment group also performs asset allocation, economic research and active management of absolute and relative risks.

With a finance degree from Concordia University and a CFA designation,. Malo has more than 20 years of experience in portfolio management, in the brokerage industry and as an asset manager with recognized financial institutions.

Before joining the Caisse, Malo was chief investment officer for Canada, director of portfolio management and an investment committee member at State Street Global Advisors.

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec manages funds primarily for public and private pension and insurance plans in Quebec.
