Manulife Investments Wednesday announced the launch of a new Manulife Private Investment Pool (MPIP), Manulife U.S. Balanced Value Private Trust, and two new mutual funds, Manulife Strategic Investment Grade Global Bond Fund and Manulife U.S. Dollar Strategic Income Fund.
“These three new mandates provide advisors and investors extensions of the existing monthly high income and strategic income strategies which have served investors well for many years,” Derek Saliba, assistant vice president of Manulife Investments.
Manulife U.S. Balanced Value Private Trust will join the MPIP platform geared towards affluent investors and will primarily invest in U.S. dividend paying equity and fixed income securities. Inspired by Manulife U.S. Monthly High Income Fund, the pool applies the same investment objective, process and strategy but within the MPIP program, which includes competitive fees, and the ability to allow households to group accounts to potentially receive greater management fee reductions. The equity component will be managed by Alan Wicks, Jonathan Popper and Conrad Dabiet and fixed income will be managed by Howard Greene, Jeffrey Given and Konstantin Kizunov. The new pool brings the total number of pools with MPIP to 15.
Two fixed income funds
Manulife also launched two fixed income funds: Manulife U.S. Dollar Strategic Income Fund and Manulife Strategic Investment Grade Global Bond Fund.
Led by Dan Janis and the global fixed income team, Manulife U.S. Dollar Strategic Income Fund follows the same mandate as the existing Manulife Strategic Income Fund, but is geared towards those looking to invest U.S. dollars.
Due to this new offering, Manulife will close the U.S. dollar purchase option to new deposits for Manulife Strategic Income Fund at 16:00 ET on March 24.
Manulife Strategic Investment Grade Global Bond Fund will leverage the same successful team and strategy of Manulife Strategic Income Fund, but focus on investment grade securities. The new fund will invest primarily in investment grade, global government and corporate bonds offering investors a global aggregate bond investment strategy.
Manulife Investments is division of Manulife Asset Management Ltd.
