David Sloan, senior vice president and ombudsman of TD Bank Financial Group, has been selected as the first executive-in-residence of the School of Business at Centennial College in Toronto.
In this newly created position, Sloan will have the opportunity to interact with college business students and faculty, lecture in class and make high-school visits to speak with students and teachers about the benefits of studying business at the college level. He will also develop case studies to be used in the college’s business classes and will participate in international outreach opportunities.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have David Sloan on board with us,” says Michael Vourakes, Dean of the School of Business, Centennial College. “He will provide us with considerable stature that comes with having a senior executive from one of Canada’s most innovative and successful banks on our team. He’s come to know Centennial as a member of the college’s Board of Governors and is an enthusiastic ambassador for our school.”
Sloan is currently vice chairman of Centennial’s board of governors and previous chair of the audit and compliance committee at the college. His new volunteer position in the School of Business begins November 17 and is expected to last two years.
Sloan has held several progressive positions with the TD since 1980. Prior to assuming his current role with the group, Sloan served as senior vice president and CFO of TD Canada Trust, and prior to that was senior and chief auditor TD Bank Group.
Sloan has held directorship positions with the Young Peoples’ Theatre and the National Ballet School of Canada. He possesses a Masters of Philosophy (Economics) from the University of St. Andrews and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from McGill University.
