Senior executives from Bay Street’s banks, investment, accounting, and law firms are gearing up for TMX Group’s fifth annual Scrabble Corporate Challenge fundraising event.
The competition, which takes place March 11 at the Design Exchange in Toronto, features teams of executives competing for the TMX Cup. It raises funds for Frontier College, a literacy organization that offers programs for children, youth and adults across Canada.
“TMX Group is proud to support the Scrabble Corporate Challenge and the important work of Frontier College,” said Tom Kloet, TMX Group CEO.
Competing companies include Barrick Gold, CIBC, Ernst & Young, Scotiabank, Standard & Poor’s, State Street Trust Company, TD Financial Group, ResMor Trust Company and others, with the help of world-class ranked Scrabble champions.
Last year, a team from PricewaterhouseCoopers won the cup.
“The event was well organized and a memorable event for all involved,” said Carol Laimer, an employee in tax sales and business development at PricewaterhouseCoopers. “PricewaterhouseCoopers is ready to defend our TMX Cup title on March 11.”
Since the establishment of the tournament in 2005, it has raised nearly $1 million for Frontier College.
“With more than 40% of Canadians struggling to read and write, our Scrabble Corporate Challenge is the perfect antidote. Having Bay Street executives roll up their sleeves to play Scrabble, shows corporate Canada’s desire to be a part of the literacy solution,” said Sherry Campbell, president of Frontier College.
