A personal holding company wholly owned and controlled by Gordon McMillan, has acquired a significant minority equity interest in Lawrence Asset Management Inc., the company said Friday.

The deal closed on Feb, 26, and is expected to provide additional financial and industry resources to support the growth strategy of the business.

Lawrence Asset says McMillan brings a wealth of experience in the Canadian financial services industry, having previously founded among other companies Triax Capital Corp., Skylon Capital Corp., and the Venturelink Group of funds.

“Lawrence Asset Management represents an attractive opportunity and has the potential to become a significant Canadian asset management firm” said McMillan. “The business has not been immune to the difficulties of the markets over the past several months, but I believe in the people behind Lawrence Asset Management and have every confidence that the business will grow and thrive as it strives to deliver exceptional investment returns for its valued clients.”

Lawrence Asset Management is a specialized global asset management firm with interests and investments in Canada and around the world. It prodes investors with access to niche oriented investment funds from growth to yield to specific geographic regions and industry sectors.
