Haywood Securities Inc. has appointed Ed Flood as managing director, investment banking, for its subsidiary Haywood Securities (UK) Limited.

Flood will provide added investment banking strength to the London office and to the established North American banking group.

“We are very fortunate that Ed has agreed to join our Haywood U.K. operations,” said Daniel Brooks, president and CEO of Haywood UK. “Ed brings extensive mining expertise to our natural resource-focused team. His vast industry know-how will be a great asset to Haywood as we build our U.K. and European business and increase our deal flow in the mining sector.”

Flood previously worked as a mining analyst for Haywood’s Canadian operations from 1999 to 2001, as the company worked to grow its presence as a leader in the mining sector. HE has since served as deputy chairman of Ivanhoe Mines, as well as director of several other mining companies.

“Ed’s extensive experience evaluating mining opportunities around the globe makes him a perfect fit for the position,” said Rob Blanchard, president of Haywood Securities Inc. “He has experience at virtually every level of the industry: he has worked as an analyst on both the buy and sell side; he has hands-on geological experience; has led mining projects throughout the world, served as a board member for various mining and resource companies and maintains a vast network of industry professionals.”

Flood holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Nevada and a master’s degree in geology from the University of Montana.
