Scotiabank today announced the launch of a new online investor education centre designed to help investors develop their investing knowledge base.

“Many of our customers are interested in access to tools and resources that will allow them to further develop their knowledge and understanding of key investing principles,” said Paul Davidson, director of marketing, ScotiaMcLeod Direct Investing and Scotia Securities Inc., in a news release.

A key component of the Investor Education Centre is the CSI Learning Centre. This tool is being offered through a unique arrangement between the Scotiabank Group and Canadian Securities Institute. Investors will have a series of six learning modules to choose from, covering 20 investment topics, including an introduction to investing, building a diversified portfolio, and investing mistakes to avoid.

The CSI, known for its role in educating financial professionals, says it welcomes the opportunity to educate the investing public. “Our partnership with Scotiabank enables us to expand our commitment to providing high quality financial education to the investing public” said Jay Flye, vice president of Sales for CSI.

In addition to the learning modules, the Investor Education Centre also includes insightful commentary from Fred Ketchen, managing director, equity trading at ScotiaMcLeod.

Clients can access the Investor Education Centre through the Scotia OnLine Financial Services Web site.
