On Wednesday night, top corporations from Bay Street’s financial, legal, technology and accounting sectors challenged their business colleagues to a competitive game of Scrabble for the chance to win the coveted TMX Cup, in support of Frontier College, Canada’s original literacy organization.
The team from CNW Group demonstrated their Scrabble acumen and expertise by winning the TMX Cup with a score of 914 points and Frontier College ended up a winner as well. Funds raised at the event support Frontier College and its important mission to improve literacy rates across Canada.
“With more than 40% of Canadians struggling to read and write, our Scrabble Corporate Challenge is the perfect antidote. Having Bay Street executives roll up their sleeves to play Scrabble, shows corporate Canada’s desire to be a part of the literacy solution,” said Sherry Campbell, president, Frontier College.
Sponsored by TMX Group, the challenge hosted 40 teams at the Design Exchange for an evening of fun, while supporting literacy. Teams had the opportunity to up the ante by hiring local and international Scrabble champions, to help spell winning words. Since 2005, funds have been raised to support Frontier College’s important mission to improve literacy rates across Canada.
