The Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments says that implementation of its revised terms of reference will wait until new complaint-handling rules take effect.
OBSI says that its revised terms of reference will be implemented at the same time as the new complaint-handling rules being adopted by the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada and the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada. Those rules are currently in consultation and/or the approval process.
The Ombudservice had set a tentative implementation date of April 1, based on earlier projections of the approval process for the SRO rules.
“A new date will be set as soon as the implementation timetable of the SRO rules is clear,” it says.
