Toronto-based Aston Hill Asset Management Inc. said Tuesday it will assume responsibility for portfolio management for two of its funds on April 26.

The two funds Aston Hill Advantage Bond Fund (formerly Manulife Brompton Advantaged Bond Fund), and Aston Hill MBB Trust (formerly MBB Trust).

Aston Hill Advantage Bond Fund (TSX: MBB.UN) has a forward agreement which provides exposure to the return on the portfolio held by Aston Hill MBB Trust. Sandy Liang, portfolio manager at Aston Hill, will become the lead portfolio manager of the funds.

Liang is currently the lead portfolio manager on Aston Hill Strategic Yield Fund and is a key member of the Aston Hill investment management team. He has been in the investment business since 1991 and a corporate debt specialist since 1996. Liang joined Aston Hill after three years spent at Cobalt Capital Management, a shedge fund based in New York. While at Cobalt Capital, he was responsible for the firm’s fixed income investments comprised of high yield debt, investment grade debt, convertible bonds and syndicated bank loans.

Liang holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a B.A. in Economics and McGill University with an M.B.A.
