IA Clarington Investments Inc. has launched the IA Clarington Guaranteed Investment Funds (GIFs). The funds will be available for sale beginning May 7.

IA Clarington GIFs are segregated funds that provide Canadian investors with the opportunity to access several of the company’s leading sub-advisors while benefiting from principal guarantees of up to 100% at death or maturity, an annual reset of the death benefit guarantee, potential creditor protection and estate planning benefits. IA Clarington GIF policies are issued by Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc., the fifth-largest life and health insurance company in Canada.

The lineup includes some of IA Clarington’s top-performing mutual funds, which are managed by leading portfolio management firms from Canada and abroad: ABN AMRO Asset Management Canada Limited, Brandywine Global Investment Management, LLC, Industrial Alliance Investment Management Inc., Leon Frazer & Associates Inc., Oppenheimer Funds, Inc. and QVGD Investors Inc.

“These new funds bring together the investment fund management expertise of IA Clarington with the financial strength of Industrial Alliance,” said David Scandiffio, president of IA Clarington, in a news release. “With IA Clarington GIFs, our clients have an opportunity to gain from the exceptional investment skills of our sub-advisors while benefiting from the many advantages of segregated funds.”

All of the funds will be available in two guarantee types, both of which help protect investors’ capital in the event of market downturns. The Guarantee A option provides a 100% death benefit and a 100% maturity benefit; the Guarantee B option provides a 100% death benefit and a 75% maturity benefit.
