Sun Life Financial’s 2006 Public Accountability Statement is now available on the company’s Web site. The report details Sun Life’s commitment to social responsibility, and its positive impact on communities through support for health-related issues, social services, culture and education.

“In our 2005 report, we pledged to help build healthier futures for individuals and families by weighting our donations strategy to health-related causes,” said Donald Stewart, CEO, in a news release. “In 2006 we delivered on that promise.”

Worldwide, more than half of Sun Life’s corporate donations supported health-related issues, focusing on health promotion, prevention, research and attention to the physical and mental health of youth. In addition, Sun Life continued its long-standing support for the arts, including support of activities designed to make the arts more accessible. Together with its employees and advisors, Sun Life also provided substantial funding to social service agencies and charities. Those donations were augmented by thousands of volunteer hours on the part of employees and advisors.

Sun Life also demonstrated its long-standing practice of care for the environment through its strong, long-term commitment to conservation, sustainability and investment in renewable energy.
