Financial Planning Standards Council is calling for nominations for two recognition programs: the Donald J. Johnston Award and Fellow of FPS distinction.
The Donald J. Johnston Award was established in 2006 to recognize and honour the spirit, imagination, dedication and contribution exemplified by FPSC’s founding president and CEO. Johnston led FPSC through its initial successful decade of development and operation as the standard-setting organization for the emerging financial planning profession in Canada. The award recognizes individuals’ lifetime achievement of advancing Certified Financial Planner certification and contributions to the financial planning profession based on specific criteria. In previous years, the award has been awarded to: Donald J. Johnston, Alastair Rickard, Jim Rogers, Patricia Lovett-Reid, Michael E. Lem and Randy Reynolds.
Now in its second year, the Fellow of FPSC distinction formally recognizes individuals who have helped advance FPSC’s vision of seeing Canadians improve their lives by engaging in financial planning. The granting of the Fellow of FPSC distinction is based on nominees fulfilling at least two of the three following criteria: advancement of FPSC’s vision and mission through volunteering; advancement of CFP professional standards; and embodiment of CFP
professional standards.
“Many individuals have generously stepped up to help FPSC work towards its vision. It is with the generosity of time, knowledge and experience of many others that we advance financial planning in Canada towards becoming a profession,” says Cary List, president and CEO, FPSC. “We encourage people to reflect on the efforts of their peers and colleagues, and consider nominating those who meet the criteria for either of these two honours.”
Nominations for both the DJJ Award and Fellow of FPSC will be accepted until
April 20. The award winner and Fellow of FPS recipients will be honoured at FPSC’s Celebration of the Profession reception during Financial Planning Week.
