Sheryl King has been named head of Canada economics and investment strategy, Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Research announced Friday.
King has been a senior U.S. economist at Merrill Lynch since 2004. She is a native Canadian and will relocate to Toronto.
“Sheryl’s extensive experience and strong knowledge of the North American economies will be a tremendous asset to our clients,” says Adam Quinton, head of Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Macro Research.
“Sheryl will also focus on providing our Canadian clients with innovative investment strategies and trade ideas that bridge the gap between the economic fundamentals of both equities and fixed income.”
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, King worked at TD Bank Financial Group in Toronto for four years. Previously, she spent eight years at the Bank of Canada. King earned a BA in economics from Concordia University in Montreal and an MA in economics from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
Reporting to King is Dan Sukmanowsky, who joined Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Canada Research in April, from TD Bank Financial Group’s Economics team.
Since January 2009, Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Global Research has hired three analysts in Canada, 12 analysts in the United States and an additional 15 analysts globally. The company also provides economic analysis and forecasts for nearly 60 countries.
