The Alberta Securities Commission Monday announced the appointment of three new commissioners.
The ASC said that the province’s lieutenant governor-in-council has appointed Terry Allen, Webster Macdonald, and Maureen McCaw, as members of the ASC, for three-year terms. At the same time, five commissioners (Allan Edgeworth, Beverley Brennan, Jack Major, Neil Murphy and Karen Prentice) will retire from the ASC when their terms expire on March 31.
Of the new commissioners, Allen has a background in financial services. She is currently president of Pivotal Capital Advisory Group, a business she established in 2002 to provide project and corporate finance advice and to raise capital for clients. She was previously PricewaterhouseCoopers; manager, corporate and investment banking group for TD Bank; and, senior account manager, oil and gas group at CIBC.
Macdonald is recently retired from the law firm, Blake, Cassels & Graydon, after more than 40 years in the legal profession. And, McCaw is the former executive vice-president for Alberta of Leger Marketing Research, a business she founded as Criterion Research Corp. in 1986.
“They bring a combined wealth of experience and knowledge from the business, finance and legal professions that will serve the ASC well in the undertaking of its responsibility to ensure confidence in the integrity of Alberta’s capital market and protect investors,” the ASC said.
