Norman MacDonald has assumed lead portfolio management responsibilities for Trimark Canadian Resources Fund, effective immediately, Invesco Trimark Ltd. announced Monday.

MacDonald has been co-portfolio manager on the Fund since joining Invesco Trimark in late 2008. Rory Ronan, who has been the lead portfolio manager on Trimark Canadian Resources Fund since 2001, will focus on his lead portfolio management responsibilities for Trimark Diversified Income Class, Trimark Monthly Income Private Pool and Trimark Canadian Plus Dividend Class, as well as his co-portfolio management responsibilities on Trimark Income Growth Fund.

“I’m extremely confident in Norm’s ability to continue to deliver the strong long-term results the Fund has achieved under Rory’s leadership,” says Graham Anderson, Invesco Trimark’s chief investment officer. “Norm firmly adheres to the investment fundamentals that are the foundation of the proven Trimark investment discipline, with a shared perspective of analyzing companies and making investment decisions for the long term.”

MacDonald has 13 years of investment experience in resources. He previously held positions at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, Beutel Goodman & Company Ltd. and Salida Capital Corp. He worked as a portfolio manager at Salida Capital from 2005 to 2008 and was lead manager of an energy fund that invested in both Canadian and international companies.

From 1999 to 2005, he was a vice president, partner and portfolio manager at Beutel Goodman & Co. MacDonald was part of a team managing various portfolios with a value mandate for institutional and retail clients. His primary areas of coverage for the team were oil & gas, chemicals and industrials.

The investment objectives and strategies of Trimark Canadian Resources Fund will remain the same, the company says.
