Walt Lukken, commissioner and former acting chairman, is resigning from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the regulator said Tuesday.

Lukken is stepping down from the CFTC effective July 10, and is moving on to the NYSE Euronext, where he will become senior vice president, global market structure, in its Office of General Counsel.

He has been a commissioner since August 2002 and served as acting chairman from June 2007 to January of this year. During his tenure as acting chairman, the CFTC increased its cooperation with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Federal Reserve, sought to improve the transparency and oversight of electronic energy derivatives markets, and facilitated the clearing of credit default swaps, among other things.
