Toronto-based Byron Capital Markets has initiated coverage on the 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs with a special report. While the purpose of analysis is entertainment, some important charities are being supported along the way.

With the assistance of NHL veterans Doug Gilmour, Ron Ellis, Chris Campoli, Nick Stajduhar and Wayne Cowley, as well as a team composed of on-air personalities Greg Sansone, Cam Stewart and Renee Paquette from theScore acting as special analysts for Byron Capital Markets, Byron has published a 9-page research report regarding this season’s NHL playoffs.

The report has a serious purpose, as the firm makes a donation to a charity selected by each of the hockey analysts.

This year’s charities included The Canadian Cancer Society, The Ron Ellis Team Canada Foundation, the Scotty Gomez Foundation, Right To Play, Sports Legacy Institute (a partner of Stopconcussions.com) and the March of Dimes Canada.

The report includes each special analysts’ picks for the first round, the Stanley Cup champion, the playoff MVP and a Dark Horse team.

The special analysts also provided their “investment recommendations” for office playoff pool participants by rating various NHL players as a “Strong Buy”, “Buy”, “Hold” or “Sell”.
