GMP Capital Corp., through its investment dealer subsidiary GMP Securities Ltd., will be donating all agency trading commission dollars generated this Friday, January 7, in support of the tsunami relief efforts.
The company announced yesterday that the commissions will be divided equally amongs Oxfam International, the Canadian Red Cross Asia Earthquake & Tsunami Relief fund, and Save the Children.
“When a disaster of such enormous magnitude occurs we cannot help but realize how fortunate we are and how important it is for us to help others. It could really make a difference for the financial services community to direct its resources to make a significant contribution to Tsunami relief efforts,” said Michael Wekerle, vice chairman, institutional trading, in a release.
