The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation predicts markets will be “in the pink” today as it officially opened trading at the TSX. The event also launched the Foundation’s Corporate Challenge for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.
The Run is the largest, single-day, volunteer-led national event dedicated to breast cancer research, education and awareness programs. It takes place on Sunday, September 30, in 53 communities across Canada. Last year, over 170,000 Canadians participated and raised $26 million.
Teams play a major role in the success of the Run. Last year, nearly 70% of all Run participants were part of a registered team, and raised almost 70% of all donations. In an effort to further enhance the Run’s success, the Foundation is encouraging Corporate Canada to join by creating corporate teams.
“Teams are a powerful way to fundraise in support of a future without breast cancer, and they are vital to the success of the Run,” says Alison Youngman, chairwoman, national board, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Foundation’s National Run partners have stepped up to the plate by extending support of their own corporate teams. Each sponsor has a corporate portal page on the foundation’s Web site where it can grow its team and challenge other corporations to participate. Information on how to create a Run team can be found at www.cbcf.org.
The Foundation’s National Run partners include title sponsor CIBC, National Champion Sponsors; Ford, NYGARD, Running Room, McCain and National Advocate sponsors: Ganong, New Balance, Revlon and Canpar.
