Senior officers from Manulife Financial Corp. rang the NYSE opening bell Tuesday to celebrate the insurer’s 125th anniversary, and the 150th anniversary of John Hancock, the company’s U.S. unit.
Donald Guloien, Manulife Financial president and CEO was joined by senior management and honourees of the company’s STARs of Excellence program, to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. The event launched a week-long series of market opening ceremonies worldwide attended by Manulife executives and other dignitaries.
“As one company operating under two firmly established brands, we are proud of the impressive growth that Manulife has achieved both financially and geographically throughout our history. “We look forward to the bright future ahead as we continue to pursue sustainable growth in our three key geographies of U.S., Canada and Asia,” said Guloien.
Manulife will continue its anniversary celebrations at stock exchanges around the world this week. On June 22, Guloien will be accompanied by Manulife executives to ring the opening bell at the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Executives from Manulife’s offices in Asia and local dignitaries will attend market opening ceremonies on June 21 at the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, and June 22 at the Philippine Stock Exchange.
