Toronto-based Invesco Canada Ltd. on Friday announced it will reopen Trimark Canadian Small Companies Fund to new investors, effective Jan. 25, 2016.
The fund invests mainly in common shares of a diversified group of Canadian companies with small market capitalizations. The portfolio management team concentrates its efforts on finding high-quality companies with a sustainable competitive advantage and strong future growth prospects.
“The limited size of the Canadian small-cap market had made it difficult to deploy large amounts of capital in a timely fashion,” says Jason Whiting, lead portfolio manager of the fund, in a statement. “We now have a strong pipeline of opportunities and I’m confident we can deploy new inflows in a timely manner.”
The fund is a concentrated portfolio of 25 to 40 businesses, representing the portfolio managers’ best investment ideas and managed using the Trimark discipline.
The fund was closed to new investors on Oct. 8, 2014.
