Financial services consultant Connie Roveto has been appointed chairwoman of the Canada Revenue Agency’s Board of Management.
Roveto is president of Cirenity Management where she provides consulting services in strategy, product and service development. Her clients include financial services, technology and emerging companies. She was formerly president of fund manager Elliott & Page Ltd., and prior to that an executive at Bank of Montreal’s trust company.
“Connie Roveto brings to the agency and the CRA’s Board of Management a wealth of knowledge and experience in corporate governance, strategic planning, and the management of large organizations,” said John McCallum, Minister of National Revenue. “I am confident that she will provide strong leadership as chair of the Board of Management, and will contribute to the future successes of the agency,” he added.
The Minister of National Revenue retains full accountability to Parliament for all CRA activities, but the Board of Management is responsible for overseeing the organization and administration of the agency and the management of its resources, services, property, personnel and contracts.
It is comprised of 15 members appointed by the Governor in Council, 11 of whom are nominated by the provinces and territories. The Board is intended to bring a private sector perspective to the management of the agency and, with the exception of the Commissioner of the CRA, does not include public servants.
