RBC Capital Markets today announced that Mike MacBain, 42, has been hired, effective November 1, to co-head RBC Capital Markets’ global debt markets’ business, focusing on financial products and commodities.

Reporting to Mark Standish, head of Global Markets, MacBain will be a member of RBC Capital Markets’ Operating Committee and have joint responsibility with Richard Pilosof for the firm’s $2 billion global debt markets business.

MacBain has two decades of experience in global capital markets businesses, most recently as president of TD Securities.

RBC Capital Markets’ global debt markets’ business serves more than 5,000 active investors in Asia-Pacific, Europe and across North America.

Harry Samuel, head of Global Treasury Services, has been given the additional role of regional head of Global Markets throughout Europe and Asia, with the mandate to work closely with John Burbidge, the chief operating officer of Europe and Asia, and the various business heads to promote, develop and execute business strategy in these regions.
