TSX Group CEO Richard Nesbitt leads a business development group to China October 13-19. It’s the third trip to China by TSX officials this year and the first trip by Nesbitt.
During his trip to China, Nesbitt will attend the World Federation of Exchanges annual meeting in Shanghai when he is expected to be appointed as a WFE Board member for a second term, meet top officials from various government offices and business associations and provide opening remarks at a Canadian road show in Beijing next Friday before returning to Toronto.
“China is an important market to TSX Group,” says Nesbitt. “I am looking forward to meeting with potential issuers and learning more about this market where we see significant potential. We have more than 50 Chinese and Chinese related companies listed on our exchanges and trips like this will help us grow that list with quality companies that see the benefit of listing on Canadian markets.”
The purpose of this visit is to continue to build on the momentum from previous trips and further promote Canada as a strong player and destination marketplace in the international capital markets arena.
Joining Nesbitt on this trip will be Richard Nadeau, senior vp of Toronto Stock Exchange and Annie Lin Tao, manager business development, and who is exclusively dedicated to TSX’s Asian business development initiatives.
The TSX road show will take place between October 19-24 with seminars on Canadian Capital Markets in Beijing, Zhengzhou, and Kunming.
TSX Group will be accompanied by a group of sponsors with extensive experience in doing business in China and taking Chinese corporations over to the Canadian markets. They are: Ernst & Young LLP; Research Capital Corp.; Lang Michener LLP; Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP; Deloitte & Touche LLP; and BMO Nesbitt Burns.
