Alberta’s finance minister, Patricia Nelson, is travelling to New York and Toronto during the next few days to meet with financiers.

“It has taken hard work, prudent fiscal planning and accelerated debt payments for Alberta to earn the best credit rating in the country,” says Nelson. “This trip will help explain what Alberta is doing to enhance our reputation as leaders in fiscal responsibility,” she added.

Nelson will be in Toronto on June 5 to meet with executives from Bank of Montreal and CIBC World Markets, as well as the Insurance Bureau of Canada. The following day she will be in New York to meet with Moody’s Investor Services, Standard and Poor’s, Goldman Sachs, and CIBC World Markets.

Nelson says she will be providing information on Alberta’s financial stability and the province’s plans to remain the fiscal leader in Canada.
